The Armidale Symphony Orchestra is a community orchestra that began as the Armidale Municipal
Orchestra established in 1943. It presently gives approximately three concerts each year. The orchestra
often combines with the Armidale Choral Society, the Armidale Drama and Musical Society and the
Armidale Music Foundation for its annual March choral weekend.
The Armidale Symphony Orchestra is affiliated with the New England Conservatorium of Music.
Related music organisations in Armidale are Musica Viva Armidale and the Armidale Eisteddfod.
Another orchestral group in Armidale is Con Brio, which is a string orchestra for adult players of violin,
viola, cello and double bass. It has a playing level of approximately 2nd-8th grade and rehearses on
